Coming soon: mobile blogging! / Binnenkort: mobiel bloggen!

Thanks to WordPress for Android I soon hope to blog quicker, more frequent and more up-to-date! So watch this space…

Dankzij WordPress voor Android hoop ik binnenkort sneller, vaker en actueler te kunnen bloggen! Reden te meer om hier vaak terug te komen ;)

Coming soon…

I don’t know what I’m gonna do exactly, all I know is that I will restart this blog of mine :)!

Rough plans include a big overhaul of the pages, and more short opinionated pieces. I usually find I have too much opinion to fit into my Tweets, that’s why. This might involve irritating, antagonising or insulting some viewers, as much as entertaining others. Oh well – all I can say is, I’m not forcing anyone to read it (I wish I could though :p).

On the other hand there probably will be fewer regular and long updates than before – WordPress IMO isn’t great for long posts – and I’m trying to find a way around its poor handling of photos :(, until then, few photos I’m afraid.

So see you all in 2012!

Totally Awesome New Look

Wow… I really like this new ‘theme’ by WordPress. Slight nag with the way it seems unable to change text colour in the side bars when I take a dark background (which is even cooler than this one).

Think I’m gonna stick with this for a while now. Lots to play with here!

As a photographer I of course LOVE the option of putting a nice big photo at the top… this one happens to be one that aforementioned Iki sent to me. It was just screaming for a little bit of Photoshop treatment. Iki, I hope you like it, and hereby I’m giving you photo credit.
(Clearly my own photos are not good enough to feature on my blog, so I’m relying on others :S.)

Easter weekend, part 1

And testing a new functionality of WordPress that I, as a photographer, think should be übercool!

I can be brief and let the pictures do the talking.

On the Saturday we drove (well CC drove and I navigated) to the youth hostel, which is connected to a rare breeds farm (on a side note, we found so many rare breeds farms and suchlike that it made me wonder how rare all these rare breeds still are, but I digress), so the first set of photos is of some of the animals they had there.

After meeting up with the animals we utilised another asset of the hostel: it’s ten minutes by car from Stonehenge. It was late afternoon and overcast, so these photos are likely to be converted, at some point, to hard B&W instead of the current drab colour, but as I said I want to test WordPress’ new idea.

So, here goes: rough impressions from our Easter Saturday!

Catching up

Been so busy, I didn’t even have time to write that I was busy.

Job applications, girlfriend, photography and an Easter weekend took enough time to prevent me writing anything. Not that I didn’t have anything to write about – the world didn’t care much and just went on turning in my absence. Disgraceful.

I’ll try to quickly blast off a few opinions in a token – and doomed-to-fail – attempt at preserving my opinion a day posting. Now, lets’ see how many I need since Mon 29th…

Tue 30th Mar

Actually was important enough that I’ll write a longer specific entry about it later. Well not about the day, but about the meeting that day regarding the Artists Open House as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival in May. Something with photography and supporting a local charity, the Survivors Network.

Wed 31st Mar

Spent time looking for jobs and applying. Takes ages but is quite rewarding once you’re into it. Not much to opine about. Earlier I had been quite amused by what I found on one website, putting down my search criteria as ‘temporary’ and ‘part-time’. First it suggested I do ‘male escorts’, and while I was pondering that career move I scrolled down to find ‘adult movie extras’ as a further suggestion. Hmm, now how would I explain that to miss girlfriend…

Thu 1 Apr

Totally missed April Fools’ Day in favour of visiting the exhibition about van Gogh and his letters in the Royal Academy of Arts, with friends, one of whom was celebrating her birthday. Hurray! Spent a long time in a queue, to find another queue waiting around the corner, to almost find another one round another corner. Eventually made it inside – by that time with frozen legs – after an hour and forty-five.

The exhibition was wonderful with loads of paintings and all the additional information from his letters. A bit long though, after five of the seven rooms, each with like two dozen paintings, my mind was full and I needed a coffee – an opinion most of the others shared with me.

Anyway the rest of the day is of little interest to anyone who wasn’t there; I do must express my gratitude to my friends who were kind enough to insist on going to a restaurant that would properly cater for vegetarians (they even considered going to the vegan double-decker bus we found, the sweethearts!). In the end the Va Bene restaurant was marvellous, two of my (non-veggie) friends did take a veggie meal – bless them, again – and we all left back to Brighton satisfied.

Fri 2nd Apr

More applying for jobs, and seriously starting to look forward to the Easter weekend!

My opinions today were mostly concerned with various job searching websites where I was trying to change my CV or other details I had put in before; turns out that for many of these websites that is not so simple as ‘replace old CV with new CV’ but involves me having to re-input entire reams of information that I had already given last time… so I got seriously annoyed :( and my latent (or not-so-latent) De La Tourette syndrome reared its ugly head, much to the amusement of my girlfriend who was providing mental support from the other end of a Skype chat.

Anyway, the weekend was a million miles away from that… more catching-up opinions later!

Opinion | Opinie 14/03/2010 (belated)

Well, my opinion is/was that if you’re out of the house and nowhere near a computer for a day and a half, then it’s difficult to get your opinions out.

Also, that that was still preferable over having nothing to do and all the time in the world for blogging an opinion :p.

Blog pimping

Long have I been jealous of my friend Steven’s blog – no, not of his blog really, but of the little box that briefly outlines his current activities.

Now I’ve head a rummage around my widgets and guess whaat – I can have one like that, too!

I even carbon-copied the exact same position, but that’s mostly because it makes a lot of sense for it to be there. Well maybe I’ll move it to the top left, just to be different.

Meanwhile, enjoy :)!
