The Guardian going down the same road, publishing one attack on new atheism after the other and publishing an uncritical “science” piece about a clearly bogus “remote hepatitis C detector”.

What is it about left-wing newspapers lately? Is it the humanities graduates running them? Who never learned to think critically? Who think that in every debate there are two, equally worthy, sides? There’s no need to suck up to religion, superstition and other woo. Leave it, please.

Seriously.

Do you realise how annoying that is? Does the person who is responsible ever even use the iPlayer? If it really is necessary to update so often, does that not mean the whole thing stinks to begin with? I surely can’t see any difference in speed or reliability – except it takes five minutes to download a program instead of ten seconds. Oh and the program usually crashes or freezes during the update. And then forgets what it was I was downloading. Yeah, that’s improvement. Not.

So please: stop sucking ass bigtime and fix it properly,

Welcome to 2013 everyone, hopefully the world will become yet more atheistic this year.

Yesterday we walked the famous Freedom Trail, very nice and a great introduction to American history. Fortuitously a good point to start a holiday in the US!

Not much to say, everybody should just see the pictures. In the morning we also visited Harvard and in the afternoon the Boston Commons park. Harvard is a nice campus with again a European feel and the park could actually be in London, it’s so English!

Today another part of Boston, even hotter weather, and tonight – really excited for this – a Boston Redsox baseball game!

Bus to Heathrow was no problem, quite smooth. Entertainment was provided by a middle aged woman who was on her mobile, excitedly proclaiming she had “met with an ex boyfriend”, was glad that “all her body parts still worked” and that she’d “had more fun than in a long time”.

Heathrow was meh, too many high end shops and not a very big terminal (3), but at least we got through everything quickly.

Some delay before takeoff, flight was ok, Virgin are not too bad, although the food was so-so, at least the in flight entertainment is good. Main problem was that we were sat in the creche with like four families with crying children…who went on and on and on…good thing we had earphones :-(.

And then, now: Boston! Looks typical ‘bostonian’ (technically we’re in the city next door, Cambridge), and the house we’re staying in is huge but cute, with a top roof porch. Weather promises to be boringly good, so we’re out for some exploring.

Does anybody have more info on what it is? It’s visible from Brighton direction roughly 240 degrees southwest. Distance is difficult to estimate but over 50 kilometers at least. Anybody?
